    Gr = lbs

    What does it boil down to?

    How many grains equal a lb of powder?

              If you're looking for a quick conversion, Google does it quite well. This is really handy if you have a browser like Firefox where there's a Google search right there.

              You just type in what you're looking for like "1 pound into grains".

                          It's not that they are cheapening up on the powder, it's just that they don't want to create a "new" 1 pound container, so they just sell 14 oz instead of a full pound since the powders they sell like that tend to be "fluffier". I think Clays is 14 ounces, and Trail Boss is 9 ounces in the same container. If you put denser rifle powders in those cans, you get the full pound. In most cases, I rarely buy them by the singles anyway choosing to buy in bulk and get a slight break price wise. IIRC, the old metal IMR shotshell powders (700x, 800x, PB, SR 7625, SR 4756) are in 8 oz increments, but when using the same cans for rifle, they actually weighed in at a pound.
