    funky looking round?

So I just got a shipment in of 9mm from Freedom Munitions. I always open them up and do a quick check to see if there are any defected rounds since I've read on here of a few people getting some. Well I found this guy and wasn't sure if something is done wrong with the primer or its ok. It seems to be out more than usual, it doesn't have the indent around the primer and seems to be flush. Still a newbie to guns so things like this still makes me feel a little nervous.

it looks like the crimped primer pocket wasn't reamed or swaged before the new primer was seated.

Federal Cartridge Non-Toxic (FC NT) brass (usually Police issue). It had a crimped in primer.

I say shoot it, the worst that will happen is it won't go bang.

I wouldn't worry to much about the primer...it's the powder inside (or lack thereof) that would be my concern.

I wouldn't attempt to shoot it, the primer is clearly crushed. The "what have you got to lose" doesn't appeal to me on this one.

                      ^^^^^these.

If you're saving brass, discard this one.

I always get a few of those when loading my 9mm USPSA Match ammo. I cull them out and make with a black X. I shoot them in practice. FWIW I have yet to have one not go boom! I use Federal primers and have a 8.5lbs spring on my CZs.

I tend to get more with WIN brass even if it is not crimped. Federal primers are softer metal. I don't recall getting them when I use to use CCI primers.
