    45 Auto Rim roll crimp

Anybody know what die to use? I have 45acp dies, but they just taper crimp.
Looking to roll crimp some heavier loads.

Sorry, I misuderstood your post. You are right, 45 Auto Rim, not 45 ACP.
The Lee die will roll crimp

The Redding die will also roll crimp

I am reloading 45 auto rim. Not 45acp. It head spaces on the rim, not the case mouth. I will be loading hardcast 255 grain flat points. Probably +p levels.

        ARDude,

I load some pretty stout autorim loads for my Brazilian 1917. I use the Lee taper crimp in my 45 ACP set and I have not had any bullet creep (yet).

You might try a few first.

Don't you love the 45 Autorim? It is a great round. For practice I shoot the Lee 200 gr SWC, sized at .451" over 3.3 gr of Bullseye. It shoots one hole groups at 15 yards with a 6 o'clock hold on the bull.

My +P loads are 230 gr TC's over a healthy charge of AA #2 or HP38 for an avg of 920 fps.

        Best of luck.

          sghart,

Yes, it is a great round! I have been using Bear Creek moly 200 gr SWC with bullseye powder for my target load. I use that in 45 acp also.
I will give it a try with heavier load and taper crimp.
          Thanks

I shoot both Bear Creek and Missouri (plain lead) 200 gr RNFP out of my Colt 1917 with Titegroup powder - the same load I use in my 1911s but in the auto rim case. One of these days, I will try some 255 gr SWCs like I Use in my Ruger .45 Colt...a .45 ACP appropriate level load, of course.

I shoot 255 gr LSWC's in my 1917 occasionally. They are fun.
