bullet ballistics calculations.

I have been looking for the equations to calculate bullet drop, wind drift, time of flight, ect using bullet BC and muzzle velocity. Have Googled my fingers off, but no luck. There are plenty of pre-configured sites as in enter the data and the answer pops out.There is even a iPhone app. (Yes, I have it) But, I what to see the math behind it all.
Does any one have a suggestion on book or website that I could find this info?

The programs use numerical approximations based on simplified parameters. Due to the complexity of variables, it is too hard for any computer to solve explicitly. The best way to understand the mathematics is by pursuing the study at a university. The problem with undergraduates and engineering types is that they probably have collectively studied ballistics in separate course work. There is an aspect that is projectile mechanics and a separate aspect that deals with rotational dynamics. These need to be combined to simulate a flight pattern. Unfortunately, there is no easy way to express the system in a general frame of reference.

In reality, ballistics have mostly evolved from empiricism rather than mathematical postulation. You are ahead of 99% of others if you simply understand the underlying concepts at a qualitative level.
