Any one know what this primer is?

I was unloading some of my ready mags and happened to look down at the mag just as I was shoving this round out. It looks as if the primer is already fired but it was not. It looks like even if I tried to fire it it would not have fired anyway.
This ammo was purchased NIB back in 98, give or take. It was packaged in the red box, American Eagle FMJ.
    TIA.

I've thought often about magic bullets since i started reloading. You know, the ones that magically hit the target no matter where you aim the gun. Any info on how to make these yet would be appreciated.

I have a Remington Factory Round that looks just like that. I was thinking about it at the range yesterday and it might be the only non operator error AR malf that I have had in thousands of reloads and factory rounds since Y2K.

Go ahead and shoot it, nothing happens, the primer just smokes. Ask me how I know.

Can't you submerge the primer with some kind of solution that disables it then just deprime it now?

Also looks like a candidate for a fail picture too.

if you know someone with a bullet puller??

I had dropped a live .223 round in my brass polisher and when I was trying to get all the media out of what I thought was an empty case it just kept coming out a little at a time, when I was able to get the bullet out a little I just grabbed it with a pair of plyers and gave it a pull, through the bullet away then you can pop the primer out with a reloading press. (slow even pressure)
