Titegroup + Rainier = Great, cost effective, plinking loads!

Finally finished off my first pound of Titegroup and it is good stuff! Far more versatile than I originally realized, and it meters well out of my Lee auto disk and my Lee perfect powder measure.

Wired up a super bright LED and 100 ohm resistor in series to a little Radio Shack AAA battery enclosure and mounted it on my press shining directly down into the cases to make it easier to check the powder drop since it is a low volume powder. It works perfectly!

I experimented with TG for a while and settled on great loads for 45acp, 45colt, 44 mag, and 500 mag!

I've also been using Rainier leadsafe plated bullets (~$0.13/round for the "small" ones , and ~0.17/round for 500 mag!!!) and put together really nice, cost effective, plinking loads in all 4 cartridges.

I use the Rainier 230gr RN for 45acp loads, 200gr SWC for 45 colt loads, 240gr FN for 44 mag loads, and 335gr HP for 500 mag loads. Turns out you can crimp from light to medium without damaging the plating. The 335gr plating seems a little thicker than the smaller calibers - at least anecdotally from crimping and inertia pulling multiple times with no damage to the plating.

I haven't had a chance to chrono the loads, but did use the load tables to estimate velocity and haven't tried to push any over 1300fps.

Nice and great job at your first lb of titegroup. This is what reloading is all about cost effective (YMMV), fine tuning, accuracy, and many other things that make this hobby enjoyable.

Titegroup is amazingly versatile stuff. It works well in pretty much every round all the way from 9mm (the smallest I've tried) all the way to .45 Colt. It's my favoured powder for .45LC (Colt SAA-style loads), .45 ACP, and .44 Special, and it's my secondary powder for .38 Special (Bullseye being my primary for the .38). It works well with cast, plated, or jacketed bullets.

I buy large jugs of Titegroup due to its versatility. .38 SPL, 9mm, .45 ACP, .45 Colt, .357 light to moderate loads, same for .44 mag/SPL. I could get by nicely with just Titegroup and H110/W296 for my handgun reloading needs.
