Reloading 22 Jet

I have been reloading rifle, pistol, and shotgun cartridges for more than 30 years. I just bought a S&W Model 53 in .22 Remington Jet. I have some new (old) factory cases and some .222 40gr. Remington and Hornady bullets.

The loading data is somewhat sparse. It looks like WW 296 will be a good powder and between 10 and 11 grains a good load. I expect to exceed 1800 fps (I have an Oehler 33 and 35p chronographs. As an aside, I bought my Oehler 33 in the early 80s.

My question for the forum, is anyone loading for this cartridge and do yo have anything to share? Thanks in advance.

700-X From 3.7 grains to 4.7 grains


2400 From 9.4 grains to 11.7 grains


AL-8 From 8.3 grains to 9.6 grains


AP-10 From 6.4 grains to 8.0 grains


AR-2205 From 11.7 grains to 13.0 grains


Blue Dot From 6.9 grains to 9.0 grains


H-110 From 9.3 grains to 12.7 grains


HS-6 From 6.5 grains to 7.5 grains


IMR-4227 From 10.0 grains to 13.7 grains


PB From 4.1 grains to 5.1 grains


SR-4756 From 5.7 grains to 6.7 grains


SR-7625 From 4.3 grains to 5.3 grains


Unique From 6.0 grains to 8.0 grains


W-296 From 9.9 grains to 13.0 grains


There is a start for you. And try and use Remington 6 1/2 primers . The Jet is touchy , loud . Make sure to clean all reloading residue off your loaded ammo , absolutely no lube left on the cases or chambers . Carry a Range rod , sometimes the empties don't like to come out , reason for cleaning all ammo with a quick wipe of alcohol and same to chambers.
And did I mention to double up on your ear protection ? They are loud.
