    308 reload question

I'm fairly new to reloading and have run across a slight problem. I can't find a load recommendation for the bullets I like. I've been shooting Remington Core Lokt in 150 grain for years and finally decided to hand load some. Got the bullets, but there is no load data for them. Any idea where I might find it? I prefer to use 4350 powder, as I have several pounds of it.

    4350?
Thats a slow powder for that round. Its going to be as much as you can fit in the case.

      Wrong powder.
Use data for most other 150gr lead core bullets.
      Try Win 748(excellent in the 308win), H335, RL15, BL-C(2), IMR4064 for hunting loads.
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

I know some use it in 30-06, but under heavier bullets.
Been using IMR4064 or Varget with good results in 150gr.

You could still use that powder, but you are going to be ~38,000 psi with a full case (~47.5grains w/.308 win case). Max on the 7.62x51 will be about 43grains and will be ~35,000 psi. Max pressure for .308 is 62,000 psi.

It may produce a nice flash due to about 15% of unburnt powder (24in barrel).

Wow, didn't realize 4350 was wrong stuff. Been performing well in '06 loads, figured it would be okay in 308.

Have some 4064 too, how many grains safe low / safe high for 150 gr core lokt? Again, there is no load information I could locate for that bullet.

4064 is too slow as well.

Get some 8208 or Benchmark for 150's.

                I'm using 4064 with 178gr for 308

With the way powder availability can be (although better recently), It would be easier to get different bullets or maybe even a different riffle so you could utilize the powder.

have Quickload? also go to the Hide and Google for some load data then do some work ups. 4064 work great with the 168's, it's the FGMM loads. I didn't have much luck with XBR, but I am running the 175 pills

I'm trying to find a specific load for the exact bullet so I don't make a costly mistake. Not finding anything for Remington core lokt 150 gr, my favorite factory hunt load. Lots of info about other bullets of same weight. Would those suggestions be safe to use?

Yes. Do you know how to work up a load, like ocw and ooal?

If you have IMR4064 it is actually a ok powder to use.
Check the Hodgdon site for a good list of powders to use.
Also the Alliant site for the RL powders if you like those.
You can PM me if you like about powders and loads.
If you like Core-Lok bullet fine(I do also) But since you are reloading why not step up to a better bullet such as a Nosler Partition for your hunting loads?
