1891 Argentine Mauser Bullets

It is my understanding that the original military load for the 1891 Argentine Mauser used a round nose 211 grain bullet .311" dia. Woodleigh makes a .312 bullet in 215 grain. Hawk has .311 round tip and spitzer in 215 grain. Anyone know of any others?

Had good luck with Sierra 180 BTHP in my 1891 & 1909 Argentines. I did load my 1891s lighter than for my 09.

So far I have been working up some loads with PPU 150 grain bullets but I also have some Sierra 174 gr MatchKing. It is strange that the PPU factory loads in 7.65x53 Argentine are 174 gr but they don't seem to sell bullets in that weight for that caliber. I have had problems with Hornady factory ammo (loaded for Graf with Hornady bullets and Graf supplied brass) because their bullets hit the lands in my rifle before the cartridges fully chamber. The 215 grain bullets could be similarly problematic but I do not know. I suppose it would depend how fast the diameter decreases past the neck.

The batches of bullets I have from PPU and Sierra show about a 4:1 spread in standard deviation in weight between the two.

I use the Hornady 3131 bullet and 39 Grs.of IMR4895. Works well enough for me. Last box of bullets I bought was $27/100.
