RCBS-Pro 2000 Deluxe Reloading Kit

I was going to start reloading and have been reading about it. I have been sold on Dillon equipment but came across this and was wondering if anyone has used it? What qualinty can I expect to get from this? Is RCBS a good, middle of the road, Low quality product? What should I pay for this? I plan to start with an easy round - 9mm and slowly add 30-06, 30-30 and .223. I go through about 1000 rounds each a year. If the savings is ther, I will definately increase that figure. Any help is appreciated.

Years back I had a RCBS Piggy-Back than a AmmoMaster. In my opinion they where fine for handgun ammo, but not for larger rifle unless you did all your case sizing on a sturdy press. Went the blue koolaid route(Dillon). Spend the extra money on a Dillon now and you won't have to resale a press up the road. Been there, done that!

I love my RCBS Pro 2000. I have had it since 01. I use a Rock Chucker for Rifle.

I have a Dillon and I like it. I started out reloading 9mm and I just started reloading 308. With 9mm I can do 100 in about 10 minutes. I have no real complaints. I am glad I spent the extra money up front because I know I wouldn't be happy with a single stage.

The Pro 2000 is a very high quality versitial press that is a progressive, not a single stage. It is in no way a middle of the road low quality press. Your great great grand children will not wear it out.

If you want a dillon. You will need to get a 650 to get the equillivent press.

Figure out the cost of change over kits for the # of cartridges that you want to load and compare cost and go from there.

1000 rounds a year per caliber is not very much.

Thanks for the input. I will probably go for the RCBS and get started. I am looking for something to do that will enable me to shoot more and waste some hobby time at home.

i like my pro2000, the primer strips are fantastic. my only issue with progressives (yes dillion owner also report issues) is that they sometimes size the brass shoulder slightly crocked as the press platform will flex slightly. it is fine if you trim with anything onther than a girard. girards index off of the shoulder and will thus trim crooked.

rcbs replaced my first press for free and i haven't had time to try it out. but their analysis showed that nothing was out of spec on the first one so i image it will do the same thing.

for pistol it is a non issume. for my rifle rounds I have been sizing in a single stage and then clean then off to the pro2000 for for everything else. your brass might not stretch after the first firing so you could do the entire operation on the pro2000 after the first if you don't mind not cleaning lube off.

i don't mind the manual index, since you still have to load brass and bullet and it seems like the auto index may take a bit of tweaking to get to work 100%.

I've sold and given away my other presses since I got mine. With the exception of my Ammomaster, the Pro2000 just won't work with 50BMG. Go figure. It is an RCBS so the colors don't clash.

Which reminds me, I've got to paint my vice green someday.

I love the primer system and a little light threadlock keeps things from wiggling apart when I load up a couple of thousand rounds. The extra station for a lockout die is a serious bonus, safety first.
