    Need Help Choosing Dies

I'm going to be reloading 6.5 creedmoor, and I need help choosing a set of dies for precision shooting. I have narrowed down my selection to three die sets: 1) Whidden 2-die set that includes Fl bushing sizer and micro-seating die; 2) Redding type S match bushing 2-die set that includes also a bushing Fl sizer and competition micro-seating die; 3) either RCBS or Hornady Fl sizing die and Forster micro-seating die. My intentions are to load on my Dillon 550b so I can't include LE Wilson dies. Thanks for your input and insight.

I'm looking at the same thing. So far I'm leaning towards just a neck sizer instead of a FL dies because I will only shot them out of the same rifle. Looking into RCBS dies.

I am in the same position as you guys.I ended up getting a Forster micrometer seating die and a Redding full length s die with bushing.

(Going to have to full length resize every once in awhile.)

I'm leaning towards a Lee collet neck sizer die but I haven't decided yet

The concepts of "precision" and a "progressive" machine are rather conflicting.

For a progressive machine. I would suggest a decent set of standard dies. Because a progressive machine will never have the stable repeatability of a single stage O type press.

            I agree 100% with pacrat.

That said, I have always had great results in 6.5 Creedmoor with the Redding 3-piece Competition set.

I have finally got my hands on the Norma brass, and it is EXCEPTIONAL.

              Redding would be my choice.

Since I'm on a limited budget right now, I think i'll take the money I would have spent on the Redding comp dies and buy a Forster co-ax press, Lee collet neck die, Redding body die, and a Forster micro seating die. I had read online that people were getting less run out and had greater accuracy with the collet and body die combo than with the best bushing neck dies.

Never done a comparison between Lee Collet dies, and others bushing dies.

I will say that for my uses. I loves me some Lee Collet dies. And wish Lee had come out with them 40+ yrs ago.

The concept of sizing to a predetermined internal neck dimension. As opposed to jacking around on the outside of the neck, to get a consistant internal dimension makes a big diff.

Especially for a $200 price spread.

Great idea, except skip the Forster CoAx and micro seater and get a Redding Big Boss and a Wilson micro seater.

When did Lee start making a 6.5 CM collet die?

They sell them in their die set.
Also, single collet die is well hidden on their website.
I called them and they gave me the super secret search code.
