New to reloading, looking for a good kit.

Fellas, I'm new to reloading, not new to shooting. Looking for a good kit to start with, not too complicated. I will be starting with .30-06 Springfield and .45-70 Govt. Maybe some .45 ACP. RCB? Hornady? I'm sure you guys have covered this many times but bear with me. I'm sort of new to Cal Guns.

Any mainstream press should take the same dies. Which caliber were you looking for?

I just bought a Hornady Lock n Load single stage kit/set. Cabelas has them on sale for $299. It comes with almost everything you need to get started. If you buy it before 12/31, you can get 500 free bullets.

I like mine alot. I picked a single stage to learn with, and glad I did. It works very well, as long as you learn the case lube curve. Stuck cases STINK!!!!!!!!!

You can skip the whole case lube curve by just using imperial sizing wax. Its cheap for a small tin and it lasts for thousands of reloads. Just get it from midwayusa.com. Almost any single stage will be just fine. Start with a lit and then when you can get upgrade things along the way like a chargemaster, case prep center, trickler, etc. Eventually you will get addicted and end up buying a dillon. Have fun!!

It means make sure you have the case lubed enough not to get stuck. I deprimed/resized about 500 .357 cases. Then I did some .308. Needless to say the .308 took more lube. I wasn't paying attention and I got one stuck. It's still stuck. I moved on to .223 and made sure I put enough on. No issues.

I need to get that .308 case out.

You need a 'stuck case removal tool'. Easy to use and they don't cost much.

If one goes for a 550B setup, what else does he/she need to get aside from dies and pickup tubes?
