I have this press as my starter press,

It has 6 die holders on the turret and it's a great press. No problems whatsoever in the year I've had it. Just another suggestion, I wouldn't buy a single stage press you'll get sick over changing out dies real fast.

Thanks for the posted article. I will vouch for it...anyone who is shopping for a progressive reloader should read it.

That being said, I have a Dillon 550 that I use to reload 9mm, 45 ACP, .357 mag, and 38 special. I love this press...it's worked out for me. I also use a Lee press for 50 BMG.

Funny thing is, any reloader will usually vouch for their system. The RCBS'ers like that product, stick with it, and recommend it. Same with the Dillionites. Same with the Hornadayers. I'm glad there are many quality options out there for us reloaders.

Although, it doesn't seem like you're looking at those three progressive presses. If you have the time, then, yeah, I'd look at a turret or a single stage press.

Just as a side note, my reloading setup is in the $2k range with everything I've bought.
I have 4 tumblers, 223 trimmer, automatic case loader and dies for 9mm, 10mm, 357SIG, 40S&W, 45ACP and 223rem.

I stopped adding up what I spent years ago.
I buy everything at the best price possible by watching ebay and gun shows or from guys at shooting matches.

The big dillon is the best.
It runs quieter than the others and holds a BUNCH of brass.

I have been playing with the idea of picking one up. I have a Lyman that I have been using but I thought of getting the Dillon. Not sure if I need to get the Large one though. Claening mostly 9,40,45 ,some 223.

I ran two Midway tumblers for like 8 years.
I wore out two motors on one of them in that time.
The big dillon is a luxury item that I'm glad I have.
I wish I had bought it 10 years ago.
It's built like a tank.

Lot of talk about not saving money by the time you get all the supplies needed to reload and all. One of my reasons along with just enjoying the action of reloading is that I can make my own rounds that I know are quality rounds and know exactly how they shoot at a reasonable price. If I buy the cheap ammo from Walmart or other vendors, I usually end up with a dozen different brands and most of them aren't to consistent with my firearms. If I buy the stuff my firearms really like(accuracy wise) I can't afford to shoot. With my reloads I get the accuracy of an expensive commercial load with the price of a cheap Walmart load.
Hope that makes sense. But it's downright fun irregardless.

I took advantage of the Hornady Lock and Load deal and got my AP progressive press through Midsouthshootersupply.com for $344...a great deal considering i got the 1000 rounds of .308 bullets (came in less then 3 weeks from Hornady) which was almost $300 worh.

I worked with a single stadge (actually 3 lined up) system for about 3 years before going progressive, and that is the best way to learn the ropes.

I still use this set up for gas guns and match ammo...the progressive press is for pistol and plinking ammo for me.
