The old 168 SMK is the gold standard of accurate shooting at 300m.

There is now a new one, which is the tipped SMK. Midway has the 100 packs on sale. I doubt it'll tune as easily for accuracy, but it's ballistic numbers are IMPRESSIVE on a 308.

For 308, I shoot exclusively 168 SMKs since I am not trying to shoot that far with 308, and I have never beat it's accuracy in any 308 bullet at short to intermediate ranges. However, I recently picked up some of the new tipped SMKs to see how they shoot. It'll be a good bullet if they shoot accurately.

I just started using the 175smk for distance. I noticed they grouped a bit better than 168smk while load testing @100 5 shot groups were under .5 while the 168 were under .75 (savage model 10, stock barrel)

I still want to play with the 175 adjusting the proper jump into the lands, and see what else I can get out of it prior to getting out to 700yards. So far I am pleased with the results.

BTW I'm using Lapua brass w/ IMR 4895

Next step will be adjusting the concentricity for run out.

I've shot Sierra MatchKings and Nosler Custom Comps and after working up loads for both the Nosler shot the same groups at less cost. These were 168 gr.
