7mm Mauser Bullet ?

And yet another bottom of the box find. I'm not the best at measuring but looks like it came out to 7mm 173gr.....I did a little research first and this may be the bullet mentioned in this link http://www.gunnews.com/model-1893-sp...er-7mm-7x57mm/

Any feedback would be appreciated. There's also a black tipped, what I believe to be a 7.62 AP pictured next to the 7mm's for scale.

The bullet loaded in the cartridge in the link is NOT the original 173 grain FMJ used by the Spanish army in the 1890s.

It was a round nose design and a cupro nickel FMJ construction. Here is a link to what the "original ammo" looked like.

The bullets you picture are IIRC Early "Bronze Points" made by Union Metallic Cartridge Co. Hence the "U" in the shield on their base. They are NOT FMJ, they are expanding bullets.

Union Metallic was purchased by Remington many, many moons ago.

Very interesting find. UMC not only sold ammunition, like Olin Corp who was bought by Winchester long ago. Both also sold bullets seperately as reloading components.

S&B now markets ammo with bullets that look very similar to those in the link, But they have exposed lead noses.

Any idea what firearm these would be used in? My crude measurements put these at 7mm diameter x 38mm long. Weight approximately 173 grains. Is there any market for these, and if so, I'd like to use the above description help I received from pacrat:
