American Reloading 209 primer & free powder

Just got recent sale purchase of 5K demilled shotshell primers for 106.00 delivered to my door from American Reloading... Broke down 1st 1000 last night & got a little over 1200 primers. But it gets better once I weighed the reclaimed different powders total weight over 1.25 lb . over 1.10lb was a split between 2 powders then some rouge green dot & a few ball loads.
At this rate once all broke down I will have over 6 k 209's & over 6 lbs pulldown powder & 10 -20 $$ reclaimed scrap brass for 106.00 to my door...
I will add that they arrive not like pictures on website & if I figure in my time to break down & seperate + work up safe chronographed loads it may not be such the deal. For someone with more time than cash ya cant go wrong...

reclaimed different powders? what powders? were they labeled?

About 1/3 of them are sheared of just above the wad leaving the powder sealed inside.
Safe starting pea shooter loads will be worked up to proper velocity using a chronograph in my uncle's 45 revolver & his 40+ years reloading expierence... all mixed lose powder will be dumped on the lawn. The bulk of the sealed ones are the cheap wallyworld federal 7&1/2 shot 1&1/8 oz stuff. He actually demilled some of this same ammo during the shortage in years past & work up 45 loads with it to keep shooting. Some will disagree but just passing on a good deal for thrifty reloaders with expierence, patience,time & equipment necessary to do so...

Check the brass heads using a magnet. Many of the heads on shot shells can be brass plated steel heads. A magnet will tell you if they're steel or brass.

That was one thing on their description that bummed me out is they state brass bases .. not the case with what I got, only about 300 of the 2400 I have processed thus far passed the magnet

For non-critical "blasting" with slugs and buckshot, the primers will be fine, but there is a huge difference in power between the weakest and strongest 209 primer. For shotshell reloading, the primer can make 2000 psi difference. That can be the difference between a good load and a blooper but more importantly the difference between a good load and a 13,000 psi load which will be bad for your barrel.
