223 max case length that will feed

I have some old reloads that have a case length of 1.765 and is .005 over recomended max. Will these feed in a AR?

IM sure they are good, but all will depend on the throat length.
    Keep it simple!

Case length has nothing to do with throat length.

Put them in your mags and see if they move freely.

You may get away with it but the prudent and correct answer is don't do it.

Tear them down and trim the brass to be safe.

How'bout figuring out what the chamber actually is? NATO chambers will work with his case length.

J-cat is being weird and argumentative today. Probably has a chamber that is out of SAAMI spec and thinks everybody knows it.

                Be safe.

Rule 1 - if it chambers it shoots.

J-cat is being a little indirect as he knows the answer, but he's only commenting on the wrong answers. You need to check your chamber for length clearance as once you go over spec, it all varies depending on how your chamber is cut. One of the easiest ways to find out if you don't have all the gauges you need is to mark up a piece of brass with a Sharpie and see if you are making contact where you should not be.

My chamber accepts cases that are 1.795" long. Therefore, a 1.765" long case fits without issue. The smart thing to do is check the length of the chamber.

My chamber is on a PSA 5.56 upper, how do I find specs on it?

Check the chamber length yourself using a gauge or a long case. Like JMP said, if you sharpee the case mouth and gently chamber it, the end of the chamber will mark up the area you painted if the case is too long. Typically the problem will manifest itself in the form of hard bolt closing.
