case feeder and case lube? ... How?

What's an easy way to use lubed cases with a case feeder without making a huge mess of the feeder?

I use RCBS case lube AND Hornady one-shot. The RCBS is goopy, the one-shot is like an alcohol-like spray.

I was thinking of rigging up a brush of some sort to just lube the insides of the die occasionally instead of spraying the cases.

Any problems with the one-shot in the feeder? It seems to dry fairly quickly so spraying it into a hopper of brass might make a mess and/or be useless as it dries away on the brass in the hopper while it waits to be fed.

I've never checked but is the one-shot useless after it dries or does it leave a film?

Have you considered something like the RCBS Lube Die?

I've had good luck with the one shot and it's a lot easier then other lubes I have tried. I am generous with it because I have heard of stuck cases but haven't had any myself after 1,000 or so cases.

RCBS case lube/decapper is interesting, but I'm using a 550b with only 4 stations and powder drop must be in station.

I've used both lubes and they are great, but I used them before I tacked on a casefeeder. Now with the case feeder if I lube the cases, I'm wondering if it'll leave a mess in the feeding tubes and jam up the already finicky case feeder. RCBS will for sure leave a mess in the feeder, and worse, might make the cases stick to the "case-pusher" thingy.

Or do you spray one-shot into the cases in the hopper and it's not a problem with the guts of the case feeder?

I apply outside of my case feeder on like an old shirt the. Wait for them to dry and continue on.

Oh I see, so it works after it's dried! I was wondering if it had to still be wet or if it left a film.

Thanks! I'll try that, spray and let dry before adding to hopper!

Yeah I think it says you can run it wet but it drys in ~30 secs lol. When it's dry it is very easy to work with and isn't very messy. You didn't say what caliber you were reloading. I lay out 100-200 at a time and spray on a shirt then rotate all then get a second coat on and sometimes a third.

Don't spray that stuff in the hopper. It dries but leaves a sticky film after a while which collects dust or even tumbling media that's left behind.

I rub a very thin coat of imperial sizing wax on my hands and run my hands through the brass. I dont get any lube into the case mouth but the dies I use are carbide or titanium PVD no stick dies

One shot on pistol brass and rifle brass gets prepped before going into case feeder.

OK got it. So spray case outside the hopper, let dry with film, then dump into hopper. Sounds good, I'll give it a try, thanks!

Dump a few handfuls of brass in a coffee can and spray with hornady one shot for pistol, or Dillon case lube for rifle. Shake around and dump in casefeeder and process or load away.

Rifle brass gets tumbled after sizing and pistol brass gets loaded in one trip through the press and the one shot stays on.

Periodically clean the inside of the casefeeder and plate with a spray bottle of alcohol and a rag.

Have you tried the Dillon Case Lube? Toss the brass in a cardboard box, give it a few pumps, shake back and forth, repeat. Let the alcohol evaporate for a couple of minutes and then dump the brass into your case feeder. You shouldn't have much buildup at all if you do it this way.

If the lube is still wet you can get stuck cases. You have to allow the alcohol time to evaporate. Likewise if you over lube you can cause the shoulders to get dented if you're loading bottle necked brass.
