    most accurate 9 mm load

i've read that 38 super bullets loaded for 9 give better results.

i'm guessing the 2 to 3 thou over size squeeze in the barrel is what does it.

anyway ,,what load /bullet have you had luck with?

    thoughts anyone?

Springfield Subcompact 9mm. 147 grain Berrys bullets (awesome by the way) with 3.9 grain of Autocomp. Better results than any factory load I have tested.

i've ordered some montana golds @ 124gr .the weight i normally shoot. they are spec @ .355 .001 over the extremes i have. tthink i will try some 147's cause they should be longer and will catch/contact more of the barrel.

Yeah with my gun being a subcompact the more weight the better. I have some HP-38 I have yet to load up. Thinking 115 or 124 grain with that powder. With autocomp and that recipe, I can get ~1,800 rounds per pound. Can't beat it!

9mm 115gr FMJ Remington, Winchester or Hornady.
              Win 231 with 5.0gr, 1.150" COAL.
Fired these in 7 different 9mm pistols with excellent results.
I have been loading these for 25 years now.

i've got hp-38 which i think is the same as win 231some bullseye and just bought some power pistol or pistol power that was also highly recommended. that should give me enough supplies to get something going.

For all reloading purposes they are the exact same powder and have the same reloading specs

Thats great knowledge to have. I didn't realize they were both the same. Pistol powder is pretty hard to come by so I figured W231 was almost a mythical unicorn.

5.0 grains W231 with a 115 grain jacketed bullet is over max in every CURRENT loading manual I own- Speer # 14, Hornady #9, Lyman 49th. They do show slightly shorter overall lengths than 1.150", ranging from 1.09-1.135".

The only Sierra manual I have is #1 (1971) before W231 came out. My observation on Sierra data from "Loadbooks" is that in several handgun calibers their max data often tends to be "hotter" than most others.

                        Speer manual #11 (1987) page 387 shows a maximum load of 5.7 grains of 231 & HP38 with a 115 FMJ or HP in 9mm Luger

Sierra manual #5 (2003) page 736 gives a maximum load of 5.3 grains of 231 with a 115 grain FMJ or HP in 9mm Parabellum.

                          This exactly
                          9mm 115gr FMJ - Using Win 231 - 5.0gr
                          Speer Manual #11 - 1987 = Win 231 5.2gr - 5.7gr
                          Sierra Manual 3rd edition - 1989 = Win 231 4.6gr - 5.5gr
                          Hodgdon Manual No.26 - 1992 = Win 231 4.7gr - 5.2gr
                          Hornady Third edition - 1989 = Win 231 4.3gr - 5.5gr
Like I said earlier, I have been loading this load for 25 years now with no problems.
When I find something good, I stick with it.

Hodgdon, the distributor of Winchester powders, website shows 5.1 grains 231 max for a 115 grain gold dot hp. The only 115gr jacketed 9mm load they show. I have loaded thousands of 115gr fmj 9mm's with 5 grains of 231 without issue.

i don't have a dog in this fight but i will say that power manufactures will sometimes change a formula for a powder and keep the name the same.
so keeping current load data from new books is a good idea,as is checking powder web sites.
