    308 bullet seating depth

    Hi,
I just the start reloading, I did my third batch load. And I may seat bullet too deep, how can I fix it? or its still safe to shoot?
I used hornady 150 grain FMJBT for 308, IMR 4046 with 43 grain, case trimmed to 2.08. I know the max length is 2.80. but after loading my reload is 2.64 over all, is that too short?
    thanks

Its short...so shoot it.IN a gas gun it will cycle as long as everything was sized &trimmed properly.Anything in a book is just a reference,if as you noticed seating is too short ,in general its not going to be a big deal

Many shooters load their .308 to about that, especially when loading lighter bullets. With that being said, I load my .308 to about 2.800 +-.005 but I use 175 grain Sierra Match Kings and 175 grain Rocky Mountain bullets.

You should use a bullet puller to pull the bullet back out.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.

It depends on the gun you are planning on shooting them out of. I know that I can't shoot short ammunition out of my 1919.

Hrm. 43 grains of IMR-4064 under a 150 grain bullet is pushing close to max for 308 service rifle, at least according to Hornady. And so far their data has been pretty real-world for me.

The R25 is Remington's "AR-10", for lack of a better description. Comes pre-tarted-up with camo and everything, if you so desire.

Just pull them and reseat them. Shouldn't take too long. If you're going to do it, do it right.
