    Corrosion on brass?

How much corrosion on brass is too much. A friend has some .308 Norma Magnum brass he wants to reload but some of it is corroded on the exterior. Is there a limit as to how much, if any, is acceptable? Other than the surface corrosion the brass looks fine. No sign of incipient head separation, ran a pointed paper clip on the inside near the web and there is no snagging or other telltales. I know new brass would be better but it is 30 bucks for 20 pieces. He has about 40.

    You can

soak the corroded brass in a 50/50 vinegar water solution for about 15 minutes then rinse in water and dry.The corrosion will turn pink.Tumble in walnut media and follow up with corncob as per usual.Brass will look alot prettier!

Thanks Sunwolf. That suggestion worked AWESOME. Brass is shiny and new looking.

I used some flitz, napkin and rotated that brass with a drill and shell holder. it took about 10 seconds for that brass to look mirror finish.

This is LC brass where it looks pretty dirty, its now so shiny you wouldn't believe it.

If the corrosion is only on the surface with NO pitting of ANY kind, I would
          use them.

Any sign of pitting, chuck them. One should not use questionable brass, especially for a magnum round.
