    9mm Target Loads

Looking to work up a load for target 9mm. Picked up some Hornady 124xtp while I wait for Zero 125JHP shipment. Looking over Ramshot load data for Silhoutte and COL is set at 1.06. To me that's pretty short, I guess its because of the projectile profile. I'm used to running 124 plated RN at 1.15 and feeds fine in my FS M&P. Any thoughts? I'm also open to suggestions for powder.

I've had some very good luck with Winchester WST and Alliant BE-86.

RN vs. HP: Compare the bullet profiles and lengths to arrive at a better understanding. My goal was to have the same volume for powder inside the case. When I load the Xtreme 124gr RN as opposed to their 124gr FN, my OAL changes from 1.140" to 1.08" because the slugs differ in length by .055"

I have never reloaded 9mm, but my target load is Winchester Ranger RA9T. They are pretty accurate. My pistol team members shoot RA9T ammo for matches.

The ones we use are not +P. They are subsonic. If you are local to southern Cal in LA area, I can give you some to try.

Not sure why you are using XTPs for target ammo. Save some $ or produce more target ammo with a cheaper plated bullet. I like the zero's but for price I just buy a box of 4,000 Montana Golds for .09 cents/round

The plated bullets or Montana Golds are extreanly accurate under W231 or Bullseye

I was actually given, FREE, 100 round box of 124xtp and 185xtp. Then I read about accuracy with 185 GDHP under N310 or Bullseye and it caught my attention, I believe it was some kind of military round. Now I'm curious to find out I ordered 500 each of Zero 125 JHP and 185 JHP which actually cost less than the Montana Gold JHP in either weight. I also have Bullseye, Silhouette, and Power Pistol to work with, thus I am trying to sell off my remaining Titegroup 4lbs (sealed) and an open 1lb bottle to ready myself to try out other projectiles (ie. Speer GDHP or Montana Gold JHP). I don't think I'm going to try Speer because of the cost and availability so most likely MG JHPs. I still have lots of RMR 124 RN, 200 RN, and xtreme 180 FP to burn through so I can use those for comparison with the HP loads.

Seems like you have a plan. Test and find what performs best in your pistol.
