New addition to collection- think spencer

Well I just ended up with another addition to my ammo collection, not in great condition but a loaded round none the less.

56-56 Spencer with a .22 LR for comparison.

This head stamp was produced by Winchester for Spencer Arms from 1878 to 1911. And I believe that all ammo production for this round ceased around WWI. Most loads ran a 350-60 gr. bullet at about 1200 FPS from a rifle/carbine length barrel.

Is cartridge collecting like coin collecting, where you never touch the patina?

For some yes, I won't touch them unless there I a lot of corrosion and then i'll will only clean enough to remove the corrosion and make the head stamp readable but still leave the staining.
