    Allient Be86

I decided to grab a 8 LB tub of Be86 at Recobs today.

After reading parts of a tread on the site THR.

18 pages of praising the stuff.
Even an Allient company rep explaining that Be86 has been used in commercial ammo for 30 year.
It's similar to Power Pistol (be84), without the big fire ball.

I looked on Allient's reloaders guide and there is load data there from .380acp- .44 mag.

    Anyway,
Anyone else have experience with this powder?

I have been buying my powder and picking it up from fellow Calgunner Doug Fetterly of Fetterly Powders/Optics in Petaluma. I usually buy Vihta Vuori 3N37 to reload .38 and 9mm. N110 for .357. I like Vihta Vuori because it burns pretty clean, meters well and is really consistant shot per shot. Only dislike is that it uses 6-7 grains per round. And for a 4lb costing me $123 I asked him any good alternatives and Doug recommended I try BE-86. The powder grains are more fine than the 3N37 and measures even better. Uses a bit less powder per round and it fires......smoother? It is hard to explain but it felt smoother. 3N37 burns slower than power pistol, unique and wsf. Be-86 burns on the fast side. I cant find the chart on the internet but im pretty sure its on the upper fast side. Anyways, after I finish off my remaining 3N37 I am going to use BE-86 as my primary powder.

I really like BE-86 for my 9mm and .40 S&W loads. BE-86 is very clean burning, not as snappy as Power Pistol and I get excellent accuracy with BE-86. I use the loading data listed on Alliant's web site and reduce my loads about 8% from their published data.

I just started using it and really like it.
Have worked up a few loads in 9mm.
Plan on using it in .40 as well.
