    loud rifle powder?

Just wondering if anybody has experience with a rifle powder that is louder than another.

Like for pistol powder, power pistol is louder than unique, anything like that exists with rifle?

I'm just looking to make some "special" loud 223 rounds for a special occasion.

I use H335 and a 55 grain FMJ for that purpose.

And it's noticeably louder than other powders? I'll be on the lookout for some h335.

      Thanks!

if you want louder, get an AR pistol....

the goal is to make it such that some of the powder is ignited outside of the barrel, or just at the muzzle end of the firearm shortly after the projectile is on its way to the target.

that is typically why power pistol is "louder" than unique. unique burns faster, thus more of it is ignited while the projectile is still going down the chamber. power pistol is a slower burning powder.

Likewise with rifles, an AR pistol for example, shooting a .223 round will be loud because the short barrel. The projectile is downrange before all the powder is ignited and most of it is ignited just outside the muzzle area. As a result of this, there is a much brighter muzzle flash

Interesting, I kinda already knew that about the AR pistols and realized that's why they're louder with a bigger flash, but I don't think I'll be going that route anytime soon. Definitely something to consider though.

I guess I'll have to look at some slower burning powder. Thanks!

I'll look at my manual later today when I get home to see what's the slowest powder they have listed.

I have some wc870 20mm vulcan powder I can sell you if you want to make loud .223 loads. Just run the casing through the powder and seat a bullet and shoot.. at 2100fps but loud as hell.
