    Question about ammo storage

Ok, so I am slowly but surely adding to my ammo stockpile. I've read that storing your ammo in you gun safe just creates a potential big bomb (in the case of a house fire).

So right now, I've got ammo stored in .50cal ammo cans w/ desiccant (?) packs sitting next to the safe in my garage.

I've been thinking about getting some sort of lightweight metal cabinet just so I can have it a little more secure.

    Thoughts? Suggestions?

(I'm not quite to the point of having pallets of bulk ammo stacked to the ceiling)

I have always heard cool and dry , locks are good too. Out of direct sunlight to keep the heat down . I have shot some pretty old surplus ammo and it always went bang when it was supposed to , so it will last a long time

Not too long ago, fired some 11mm mauser milt ammo packed in 1888 -- Black powder ammo, no fail to fire -- Who knows how it had been stored --
