Having tried/used both powder funnels wins hands down. The Hornady PTX isn't really adjustable in terms of the amount of case mouth belling (I can only speak to 45 ACP) you can apply. Powder funnels universal PTX has a much longer "throat" to set your desired amount of belling. I wasn't able to achieve my desired results with Hornady's PTX. Definitely worth the $35 to me.

Here's a pic of both side by side. Hornady is on the left (and stamped .45 ACP). Significant difference in the flaring of the throats/ends to achieve the belling you prefer.

Hornady presses sure are cheaper than Dillon's.
The old addage that "you get what you pay for" certainly applies here...

        I have to agree.

My 650 has at least 50k of 223 produced on it without even so much as a burp.
I bought a rebuild kit at about 10-15k thinking I might need it but everything is still working as new...................

And I almost went the "CHEAP" route, glad I didn't.....

Except that comparable Hornady and Dillon units are about the same price.

How are they comparable units? The LnL is auto indexing 5 station, so is the Dillon 650. The 650 starts at 25% higher cost. The 550 comes in around the same initial price point as the LnL but is not autoindexing, is only 4 station .

My LnL auto indexes, 5 stations, and is fully set up with a home bullet feeder for about $500 out the door.
This guy's video run's how mine does, except I have four drop tubes for the bullets, so I can do longer runs. Mine runs like a champ.

Either way, you will see this kind of price justification in every purchase. You talk to someone asking if a Honda is a good car to get and someone will tell you that you should have got an Acura because it's better.

Someone asks about getting a good bolt action rifle that won't break the bank and someone always responds with how they should have got that rifle that was about 25% more even if both end up grouping extremely similar.

                They are not.
The hornady is cheaper, like a honda.
The dillon is built better, like an acura.
                The prices reflect it.

I have two or three qualifications for free bullets I never used, because I wasn't interested in the bullets they offered. You don't get to choose from their entire line. Yeah, I could have sold them, but I was busy and didn't bother. It is not worth much money anyway. I shoot lead and don't reload my own SD ammo. If they offered me ammo instead of just bullets, I would be interested.

People talk about that bullet offer as a deal maker, and it just isn't all that compelling, certainly not in the long term. If you can afford a Dillon rig in one gulp, buy it. I bought the Hornady because I could use it while building it up with add-ons as funds allowed. It has worked fine, and I know it pretty well, but I would welcome some experience with a Dillon 650XL.

You have to compare them with case feeders and comparable array of accessories, not necessarily standard/included. The resulting numbers are not far enough apart to represent as any sort of compelling argument.

Why does it always end up a pissing match anyway.

This tread and OP was asking questions about LNL press.

I don't recall any questions about something blue.

Exactly my point in post #66. Some how it turned into an unsolicited "here look at all my dillon stuff."

Reloading is like any hobby, it sounds really fun, but some people are just not into the time and energy it takes to learn the curve.

Also ,in regards to your questions, I just bought a brand new LnL AP from a guy who ordered two online. He got one on back order, then found another one in stock somewheres else. He tried to cancel to order but in came in stock, and was shipped before he could do so. Therefore this gentleman ended up with two LnL presses. He had one in the garage all set up, and the boxed one which I bought for $350.

I'm waiting for a friend to get his 650 so that I can give his current LNL a good adoptive home.

I'm always willing to take in unloved LNLs rather than see them languish in the corner of a garage unused

However I'm observing that many people are trying to sell their Hornandy Lock N Load Progressive presses and I'm curious to know why?

                                Factors I've considered were:

                                1. Switching to another manufacturer
                                2. Not reloading as much anymore
                                3. Level of customer service from Hornandy
                                4. Press not functioning as it should

so... why? curious to hear feedback
I would guess they bought in mass during the ammo shortages of 2013-2014 and never unboxed them. Now that ammo is plentiful and cheap and the ammo cabinets are full, the investment in time and learning isn't as compelling.
