    Forster Trimmer

    Anyone have experience with it?

    Pros/Cons?

I'm looking at upgrading from the lee quick trim set up I have right now.

Mostly used for 223/308 (and 30-06, 30-30 once I get the dies) and was thinking this was a better option than buying separate dies for each caliber for the quick trim.

I have two. One set up for trimming lenght. Since the 1970s. The other set up for neck turning. Sometime in the 1990s.

I removed the handles from both. I use a cordless drill to turn them.

        Thanks for the feed back

I plan on using a drill as well in the near future once I'm out of a apartment. Is it fairly consistent when trimming?

Definitely. Since the cartridge base is against the step in the collet it can go nowhere. As long as you lock down the adjustment collar on the cutter shaft properly. Accuracy is within .001".

I have one they only problem is the base collet does not fit any of my regular brass. I have another brand that grabs the brass differently and I use that one more. They are great trimmers and are very consistent.

When you say regular brass what do you mean?

I only have collet #4. I would need #1 for 223, #2 for 45 and 9mm, and #3 for 38 special. The universal brass chuck that locks down on any brass is much handier. I would have to put another $50 into that trimmer to get the three other collets.

Ahh I see what you mean. Yeah that is one + for the Lyman I was looking at too, but seemed the Forster had a better review
