Safe way to remove powder from live rounds?

I have a fairly extensive bullet collection going and some of the rounds (most actually) are live. Anyone know how one can safely remove the bullet to take out the powder without damaging the bullet? Also, can I just knock out the primers after powder is out via the inside of the brass? Not as important, but would be nice to also remove the primers. Thank you

When my neighbor asked what all those crates were, I told him if he sees smoke coming from my garage, and me running down the street......he better catch up!

Sure, you can do it -- but who would buy an 1888 45/70 with no powder or primer?

I am not worried about selling it, just that I have a toddler around the house and I would feel a bit more comfortable if my collection was a little safer. I do like to display it in my curio

kinetic bullet puller / hammer, from Dillon or RCBS or any vendor of same. About $20. A dull / noisy afternoon.
And yes you can carefully deprime live primers. Just wear ear and eye protection in case of an unexpected detonation. Or take the remaining primed brass to a range and fire them off.

And the technique of carefully depriming?

to de-prime live primers.. I simply use my de-capping die....... never had a primer go off.. remember the de-capping pin is pushing against the anvil the oposite directoin the anvil needs for the primer to go bang......

WD-40 will kill a primer and reduce any potential for an ignition.
