    Hornady powder measure compatability

My question is does anyone know if the newer powder drums with the push button release fit the older style measurer that had the set screws? I have a rifle drum and want to load more pistol from it so I would like to install the pistol drum.

Alternatively do anyone know we're I can find a pistol drum for the older style Hornady?

I could have one machined but I would just sell my current one and buy the new if it came to that.

Thax for all the help guys.

    I haven't tried.

The older style you don't replace the whole drum though, just the "thimble"

Really? Just the micrometer part? Ok sounds good I'll have to try and find one maybe.

Maybe I'll get lucky and some has tried this already. Lol

I can measure my drum and give you the dimensions?

The rifle one has a big "mushroom" that fits the bore. The pistol one has a out 1/4" rod inside an aluminum housing.

honestly you are probably going to be better served just buying a new one and keeping one set for rifle & one set for pistol.

I wanted to do the same thing and found that the diameter of the newer drums were slightly smaller than the older ones. Had a very loose fit in my old Hornady powder measure. So in my case, the answer would be no.

Also, the older powder measure used the same drum for rifle and pistol. There was a metering insert for each. They both fit in the same drum.
