    Problems FL Resizing

I am not new to reloading (but always learning!).

I recently purchased a set of Whidden bushing FL dies for my 6.5 Creedmoor.

I nearly spent all night scratching my head on why the die is not resizing my brass properly and FAILING to ENTER my GO-NOGO gage. It does NOT enter my Giraud shell holder, as well (so I can't trim, either). In both cases, the resized case just gets "stuck" entering both items (loaded ammo and test cases provided by Hornady and Giraud are no issue). The case, however, chambers in my rifle just fine with a 0.002 shoulder bump.

I'm using a 0.287 bushing and 550 press with floating toolhead. I size to bump the shoulder back 0.002.

I've tried several combinations: different toolheads, with/out expander ball, die screwed all the way in and out, no cam over, slightly cammed over, etc.

    Am I missing something here?

Does your fired case fit in the gauge?

If your using a bushing die eliminate the Expander completely.
Next the bushing goes in the die bevel down or numbers up.
Is the die a neck die only or a full length sizing die with a neck bushing.
A lot of accuracy shooters neck size only so make sure you got a full length sizing die and not a neck sizing die.

        Nope.

However, Doug Giraud reached out to me and is going to cut a custom case holder to 3 of my resized fired cases.

FWIW, my resized fired brass, shoulder bumped 0.002", 140 AMAX bullets chamber perfectly in my rifle with a 0.020" jump.

Whidden doesn't recommend eliminating the expander. However, to see if the issue was the expander, I did. Still nothing.

I haven't turned necks in forever because I have found that a combination of proper neck bushing on Hornady 6.5 brass has maintained my accuracy just fine (current rifle shoots sub 1/10 MOA).

Whidden are FL bushing dies. Expensive but in my past experience, worth the cash.
