    DIY Annealing Machine Updated

I came across this thread while surfing another website. I did a quick search to see if it was posted here and did not come up with anything. If it's a repost, I apologize. I think I now have a project to work on!

It's a knockoff of Giraud's design, it works very very well, and it is one of the few hopper fed automatic machines.

            I'll be buying mine.haha
Giraud's lead time right now is pretty long and his machine is $470

Here is a link to the original plans as well as numerous videos of the unit in operation. The plans are in metric however.

I am not sure you need two motors, it could be done with one and make both drums spin at the same speed. Then you would not have to try to tune both motors to spin at the same time, just one speed control to determine how much time you want flame on the brass. I like the concept, but would want a larger brass hopper on the feeding end.

Boy it is easy to improve on others ideas, but I am sure it took them a long time to think this up. I applaud them on the concept.

I love my Giraud annealer, use it on all my brass at this point because it's so easy to anneal with the thing.

I finally finished my automatic annealer. One thing to consider, instead of hooking the propane torch directly to the bottle, I am using the extension hose from Bernzomatic. It's $15.00 from Home Depot.

I started looking up motors and controllers after independently finding this guys you tube posts.
It would be easier if he listed the motors he used, but there are a lot of inexpensive DC geared motors that probably work fine and the controllers I found all seem to be able to handle more than ten times the power the motors use.

Also, the second shaft could be run by a belt and the right size pulleys.

Of course I already bought a chunk of aluminum plate to start making one of these:

He went crazy tech on his upgrade:

I would just use an analog pot for speed control.

I ordered my Giraud, its shipping in May. I have his power trimmer, yes its pricey but I can knock out 1,000 cases fairly easily. I have the same high expectations for this.

Wish I had the knowledge some of you guys have. I look at those control panels and I start to feel sick to my stomach hahaha.
