    Do you lube 9mm?

    Hey everyone,

Full length sizing on our Lee Pro 1000 is super stiff and in fact last week we got a shell stuck which resulted in a damaged carrier. So I called Lee Precision and they were fantastic, sent me out a new carrier at no charge and didn't even ask if the press was under warranty which it is not. Very cool

While talking to Peter at Lee, he mentioned that most commercial manufactures lightly lube 9mm since its a tapered case and it requires full contact with the die unlike 38spl that only contacts a sizing ring inside the die.

He suggested a light dusting of furniture polish or a light roll on a silicone cloth before starting

    What has been your experience?

I use 1-2 sprays of case lube per dillon blue bin.

I've never lubed my 9mm. What dies are you using? Are they carbide dies?

I lube all my cases (380, 9mm, 45ACP, etc) when I reload. It makes a lot of difference in press operation.

I use Hornady Unique case lube.

I use Carbide dies, and make sure the brass is cleaned well.

My 9mm lee dies had rough spots on the sizer and expander that would make cases stick. I sanded and polished the dies to fix it.

My .40 lee dies were fine.

            I dont lube any now.

A big +1 for what Carcassonne posted.

I also have Dillon carbide dies for my 9mm. I lube using Oneshot http://ads.midwayusa.com/product/438...ProductFinding

I've loaded without lubing but it makes the press much "stiffer" to operate.

if you put some car polish wax in your media the cases come out shiny and smooth

when i notice my 9mm getting a bit sticky i rub one of the cases on a white candle then it seems good for about another 50

i hit them with some hornady one shot. not trying to get each one as the lube will transfer to the die.some folks will spray them in a zip lock bag.

No.. Carbide dies (Lee and Dillon) + clean-ish brass=works for me.

I use a vibratory tumbler with a little bit of nu finish and I have never needed to lube my pistol cases since the dust acts as a dry lube.

                            Glad you mentioned that process.

Mine is the same. All my pistol Dies are Carbide and have never had any issue or even an inkling of an issue.

In addition to the Nu-finish I add a USED Dryer fabric softener sheet which removes the dust and dirt from the media. Extends the life of the media by a factor of 3 to 5 times......

OP, try it both ways; you'll lube 'em, it's soooo much less work if you're doing a bunch.
