New IMR Enduron 4451 and 4166

Anyone use it? My local reloader has tons in stock. I grabbed one of each along with 5lbs of varget and 2 4198s. Looking to better my 30.06 and .308 168grn groups at 300+ yards.

    thoughts? comments? loads?

    No help here.
I'm waiting for someone else to be the guinea pig. As I buy 8 pounders.

Cant help with the new powder, but with Varget I have found 46gr to work very well with the 168 and 175gr bullets.
      Keep it simple!

Go over to the IMR webpage and see if they have data for the cartridge you want. Gonna be a couple years until Lee, Lyman, Speer, and the rest come up with loads...

I use it 4451 for my 270 win it has better consistency on chrono from first to last shot then 4350 still have to fine tunede load but using the starting load of 48.3 gn with a 150 gn bullet yield decent groups enough so I zeroed in at 200 yards and was shooting 500 Yards shots with my first loads with a 6 inch group, I bought it for hot loads as in my model 70 anything over 50 gn of powder would leave copper fouling and with this I could shoot 53gn and see no signs of copper just some carbon build up

OP - do a search for 4166 in this forum.

There was a post requesting testers and then a follow up post.

FWIW - I think Varget and Benchmark are just as good or maybe better.
It seems a lot of the 4166 loads are compressed. Some .308 loads look OK
though but I have not shot 4166 in .308. I had requested comments earlier but no replies.

The powder seems to be priced on the higher end; so if it doesn't leave your barrel sparkling clean after shooting; not sure what the advantage is other than it is available. Last time I checked PVI - they have both 1lb. and 8lb. jugs available. Last time I looked 8lb was $181.

            Regards,

I just got some 4166. Not having any data, I assembled one .308 175gr load using 41.66grs of 4166 in a LC13 case and 2.800" OAL.

I shall chrono it tomorrow morning.
