Official .308 Winchester Load Data Thread

Share your data if you will guys,
share your ideas with what works and doesnt.
I was given the go ahead to make this thread.

Hopefully this thread will give Newbies like myself helpful info on reloading this particular round. Not limited to a specific grain weight of a round but a wide variety of grains.
I dont know if we need another one for .223/5.56 because Jiko had made one.

It is focused on the .223 77 grain thread Jiko made http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...ad.php?t=54716

The following may be subject to change to round out the thread so bare with me.
    What will be needed

Bullet, Powder, Primer, Brass, groups you have shot, pictures would help. What kind of press, crimped or not all those little details.
This way maybe we can see what CG'ers have to offer!

Hope we can get people to participate!

    Thanks!

    Dupe

*just get that stickied...... we can....*

Also, one of the MOST informative webpage about .308 (basically all u need to know):
308 Shooter's Guide for .308 Winchester and .308 Win shooting, reloading, and 30-cal accuracy. Bullets, powder, brass, accurate loads. Rifles and gear reviews for .308 Win. 7.62x51 surplus ammo and ammunition reveiws. AccurateShooter.com is the best guide for precision shooting, with FAQ, Shooter Message Boards, Reader Polls, and Photo Gallery. Equipment reviews gun barrels, powders, primer, gunstock, dies, accurizing, ballistics, gunsmiths. Reloading, marksmanship, gunsmithing, and varminting.

One of the reason why we have that 223/77gr thread is that the 6mmBR .223 article is universally for 223/556 and doesn't have A LOT of info about the 77gr specifically that a lot of us are VERY interested in.

For .308, i think the 155Scenar, 168SMK, 175SMK would be the prime candidates; and then they are pretty well covered over in 6mmBR.

wow that thread was a year ago. It should have been stickied a long time ago!
Good to go, I had pm'ed the mod and he said it was a go so I made it.
Since there is one already listed at http://calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=72798
        that can be it.

Mod go ahead and delete this thread and make the old thread the sticky.

        thanks all!

Uneven burn if powder is packed down?

A good friend of mine does almost all his rounds thru reloading, and has done a lot for me, and is training me up on his Dillon.

My question/concern is about powder, whether it can have an uneven burn because of packing down, or if there's a way to put a 'top layer' of some substance (beeswax?) on top, so there's a perfect cylinder of powder to burn, or an inert substance that would allow burn and bring the full load of powder to the base of the bullet.

Yeah, probably an insane/goofy concern, but if the burn is not consistent throughout the firing of the primer and into actual separation from the cartridge, is there an issue for a difference of energy in the combustion and therefore of transfer to the round?

Yeah, I should be an engineer...
