want to begin loading 223 need help

I would like to start reloading 223 exclusively but dont know where to start. Could anyone hold my hand and walk me through what i will need to buy? Obviously ill need projectiles, powder and primers but what else will i need. I would like to keep it somewhat inexpensive as this will be my first expirience reloading and dont want to spend a fortune on a hobby i may not enjoy. Thanks everyone in advance

I've got a almost new Lee Single Stage press and a Lee Perfect Powder Measure you can have if that helps you out. I got them with a bunch of other stuff I bought a couple of years ago and have never used them. Where are you located. Shipping, if necessary on your dime.

As low budget as that book looks, it's actually really good. I got a copy of it long after I started reloading, and IMO, it's one of the best guides for learning the fundamentals on how to reload.

You must understand reloading rifle ammo is tedious with case prep etc. However it is quite fun. You should read up on the process of reloading and know about pressures etc. My wife got me the Lee Turret Press kit, but that is only a start. You need dies, case cutting tools, micrometers, scales, tumbler, case prep tools and more before you even think about getting components.
Reloading is fun but I suggest you take a class on it. Do not read this and think I am discouraging you. Just letting you know there is really no short road to reloading.

OCABJ is giving you are good start of real good info. I should know, that's what I started with and was easy to read.

You have some real good guys here willing to help. I would be happy to pass the book onto you but, nobody knows what city you are located in.

DR296 is right. It may be tedious in prepping but, to me its relaxing. When you finish your first reload and go to the range and fire those rounds, you'll be impressed with your reloads. Further more, you'll be saving money reloading your own.

You don't necessarily need a micrometer. I use a case gauge, which is faster and more consistent than miking cases.

Also, get case lube and a good loading manual, like a Hornady. It give you directions on how to load.

edit: Check around your area for a Rod and Gun club. That's where I learned to load. They probably have a press at minimum, maybe a scale and other stuff too. Hopefully you won't have to buy dies, but you'll probably need case lube, and might need some other small stuff. If you use their stuff for awhile you would know better what stuff you want to get for yourself.

This is what I started with 20 years ago and still using today. Don't look at it as a way to save money but as a hobby you will enjoy. Take your time and double and triple check your work when reloading. If you have kids wait till they are in bed because you do not need any distractions what so ever. One simple mistake can ruin you.
