Is anyone on here loading .40 with this mold? I made my first batch and played around with the seating depths. After powder coat the weight is closer to 183gr. My normal OAL with x-treme 180gr is 1.120. I tried seating the lee 175gr to the same 1.120 but it will not fully chamber. The bullet on the left side shows the ring where it hits when I drop the slide. The bullet on the right fully chambers but the OAL is down to 1.100 in order to do so. I have tried it in my Kahr pm40 and Springfield XD,and both require a 1.100 to fully chamber. I have been reading on other forums and have read of people loading an OAL as short as 1.095. I'm hoping someone here has experienced this and could chime in. I Was planning on 4.7grs of W231 as that is what I have used with plated 180gr projectiles.

You might need to resize them. Whats the diameter after the coating?
Thats too short for me to feel comfortable. Min is 4.4gr at 1.125... If you must load that short i might go closer to 4.0.
Ive loaded a ton of 180gr lead with wst, which is similar in charge to 231. Both 4.4gr starting and close pressure. I got down to 3.8gr at 1.135. Very reliable. Youll have much more pressure with that oal, so it should cycle well. -
Sorry I forgot to mention I'm running them thru the Lee sizer. I know the 1.100 seems really short, but it's the same in both pistols. I seated a few without the powder coat and they needed to be about the same depth also to fully chamber.Comment
