So you think Tor is secure?

Maybe you wanted to remain anonymous during some online activity.

"Harvard student used Tor to anonymize bomb threat emails, failed!"
    EVERYONE is watching TOR!

After you read the article read the slideshow of how they monitor Tor activity, its quite the read for tech savvy individuals. In the slideshow they mention that the FBI has special TOR tracking teams for TOR traffic. They also mention that sites like "hidemyass" and "perfect privacy" anonymizers are logged and compromised.

If you are like me you like staying informed and this is in no way meant to be used for hacking or some other illegal activity. Just watching the watchers.

thanks for the post. Will read the article later..

No surprise.. I think it has been mentioned many times that there is a trial of breadcrumbs using tor... Interesting about the other VPNs though.

Thanks for the post, tagged for later reading. Im running Tor on my beater laptop but I've always assumed nothing online is 100% secure or anonymous.

The guy that ran 'Silk Road' was using Tor and the govt broke the encryption and nailed him; 30 years in prison....

The takedown of Silk Road was accomplished not quite by breaking TOR, though they did take advantage of its weaknesses. DPR inadvertantly left a lot of clues lying around and operated fairly insecurely. The feds got him mostly through old-fashioned detective work. That being said, there's a lot of discussion now about how to fix TOR and how to make alternatives.

The only way to do ANYTHING on line privately is to use someone else's computer with someone else's info....just sayin

Read the articles. Tor encryption was never broken. They got to him via side channel attacks and massive investigative footwork.

Release router lease, change MAC, renew router lease...
Never use the real hardware MAC addy of your router.
Only use https:// and gmail accounts without "your" name plugged in, and only via non-chrome browser in a private/secure browser window.
Only use your provider's-provided e-mail addys for spam, and never check them.

Maybe use a VPN service via a pre-paid credit card tied to a gmail account you never log into or plug into any web page?

Not the best, but a monkey-wrench in the gears is better than plugging all your info into an Apple device, voluntarily. That is like using your real name on FB...

He should have taken the exam.
Now he fails the exam, gets kicked out of Harvard, does five years in jail and has to become so guy named Bubba's sex slave for sale and trade.

Yeah that worked out real well.
Just goes to prove, just because you got into Harvard doesn't mean you are a genius.....
