Well, haven't had any hiccups since that last restart six days ago.

      Get back your router freedom.
I was considering the experience of the user. If you know what you're doing then by all means. I use it myself.

DD-WRT is the way to go if it will support it. Used it on many routers that had problems.

Yep, I have the same one and it is awesome. Before that I had a netgear router (sorry can't remember the model #) with similar disconnection issues. I have not power cycled the Asus router in the whole time I have had it (probably about a year now), the range is much better, and to top it off I get much faster speeds out of it.

I will stick with ASUS for routers from now on, I am sold on them.

Consumer grade routers are designed to last a bit beyond the warranty
Firmware upgrade and check the log to see if it's complaining about a particular fault.

I would not recommend DD-WRT to "fix" a router. If anything, DD-WRT shortens the life of routers because it provides access to settings the manufacturer did not intend you to mess with. In some cases, it can kill your router.

I just got a belkin 1200 off the shelf on sale at Wally world $79 to replace the n300 and it is complete trash. Said it was longer range and its 50ft if im lucky. Either im not setting it up right or its just junk and going back.

From what I've heard, Belkin is pretty much crap anymore. On a side note, my N300 seems to have settled down and has been working good since doing the firmware update a month ago.

I had the same problems with the exact same router after about 2 years of use. I ended up just upgrading to the N600.
