Help with Netgear N300 Wireless Router?

My out of warranty Netgear N300 is losing connectivity at random times and the only thing that's working to restore it is to unplug and reboot it. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can fix this issue other than buying a new Router?

You could also try installing a different firmware such as DD-WRT. That should be a last ditch effort though.

My parents router kept dropping off. After repeated service calls, Cox cable a tech cleaned all connections, especially the grounds. No issues for over a year now.
Same with my Direct TV. I double checked and cleaned my ground connection. No issues since
So make sure to check the grounds.

Just checked the Netgear site for a firmware update for the WNR2000V3 version of my router. There's a Firmware Version 1.1.2.10 but no revision date - guess I'll just go ahead and do it in the hope it fixes the issue...

Have the same netgear n300 and have been having the same problem every time someone connected to it and anyone else was on. Just did the firmware update will see how that works out.

Also just successfully updated my firmware to the latest version - will post back in a day or so as to whether it has fixed the problem.

So far so good. Its not disconnecting like it was and like yours having to shut the power off and restart it all the time. I have a couple of spare routers so if it keeps up I will just swap it out and email netgear.

DD-WRT is not a "last ditch effort." It is better than almost every proprietary firmware available. I highly recommend doing a google search on it. It really isn't that hard to do by yourself, but PM if you need help.

Send me pics of your: Colt Detective Special, AMT Hardballer, pre-64 Winchester Model 70. I'm looking for them.

So, have had to unplug/reset mine once since the firmware update. What would you guys recommend as a better, more reliable router/brand than I have now?

Asus RTN66U. Have two running for the past 2 years w/o issue. You can get them cheap used or refurbished. Just make sure to place it in a well ventilated area. It gets hot.

                              router

I got sick of dealing with Netgear junk. And because it was past 90 days, they wanted to sell me a tech package for $90 or something ridiculous like that.

Bought an Apple router. No more problems.
