    This!

I appreciate eveyones willingness to help.

Only my wife, my kids, and I have access to the iPads. It occurs in overnight periods when my boys are sleeping. The issues isn't a home page issue. It is an opened web page left open.

I narrowed the issue down to systems that had Bluetooth activated. The units sit at a window to charge when the problems happen. No further activity once I turned off the blue tooth. The neighbor closest to the window is a major tech guy that is flown all over the world to solve computer problems. I suspect he is involved. He is from a very traditional culture that wouldn't deal well with such activities if his wife or extended family were to find out.

Even if the problem is solved, I will be adding an Internet filter and other protections.

If this is the case, I would probably check active DHCP leases on your router, and make sure you are using WPA, or WPA2 encryption on your WiFi with UPPERlowerNumbers8675409&$p3c!alCharacters2, not WEP, for sure.

          And so the story thickens.

          This is bizarre.

someone who is paid to be flown around the world to solve computing issues would not play with your ipads. our biggest worry is our partner catching us flogging the dolphin, not the historical data on our personal devices. we obviously know exactly how to cover our tracks and have personal wifi hotspot devices that our partner has no possible means to track service use.

we sure as heck wouldnt take the time to attack a wifi or bluetooth network that our neighbor uses as if we are caught by local law enforcement, we lose our job, certifications and possibly freedom in the end.

the usable range for reliable bluetooth on an ipad is approximately 10 ft in an open air area...10 meters would be a max range and an intermittent signal. your neighbor is most likely farther away from the ipad than that. furthermore, the BT signal would need to transmit through glass, and the wall of their home or apartment. wifi signals can do what we are talking about, BT cannot.

i would not recommend treating your neighbor like a criminal, more than likely he is anything but.

              Exactly my thoughts.

              Just ask yourself this question:

What would your neighbor have to gain by hacking your kids' iPads and loading them with porn?

The vast majority of kids have seen porn. I hate to say it, and you know your kids better than I do, but almost certainly it was your kids visiting porn sites.

The majority of boys by 11 have seen porn. And what you describe is usually listed as a warning sign that your kids have been viewing porn.

I doubt anyone cracked into your ipad (hacking /= cracking) to plant evidence of porn. After all, hijacking your wifi would not affect the ipads. It just means my computer uses your internet.

You can also block specific websites through your router. Take note of the site addresses & enter them into your router's blocked list.

I have to agree with others on here. Sounds like it's time for "The Talk". I highly doubt the iPads have been hacked. Due to their lower market share compared to PC's, there are very few viruses/ malware written to affect Mac products.

I would also highly recommend installing a parental app that monitors their tablet use. There are many that are password protected, and can only be tampered with by you.

worst case is his ipad could be part of a botnet but again, this is highly unlikely as black hats go after powerful networks and systems rather than lowly ipad equipped home networks.

above is a simple article to hopefully make you more aware of hostile parties and their actions as well as hijacked browsers.
