    Is Gmail down?

I tired several times but keep getting this message:

The proxy server is refusing connections

Firefox is configured to use a proxy server that is refusing connections.

Check the proxy settings to make sure that they are correct.
Contact your network administrator to make sure the proxy server is working.

gmail has nothing to do with how you have configured your firefox installation

Seems I remember something about some extensions or plugins causing similar issues with people's firefox, or maybe it was some malware.

A simple (if overkill) fix would be to backup / export your bookmarks / personal stuff and uninstall / reinstall firefox, and then import your personal stuff back into the new firefox. Good as new.

If it is malware, then the above fix would only be temporary, so hopefully someone else can chime in about dealing with windows malware

        Use either:

        a. Your phone browser.
        b. The phone app.

Or use a free / paid proxy service

There are other tricks you can play too.

You just have to think "outside the box"...

(I think you can uncheck "Proxy" in Firefox too... but if they log everything when not using a proxy, that will still not help.)
