3g microcell and static ip problems...

I picked up one of those att 3g microcells and it works great if its going straight off the modem. I have my network setup with a static ip and the microcell isn't built apparently to work that way. There's no way to interface with it and I have an older wrt54g linksys wireless router. I saw some stuff about messing with the DHCP and the microcells mac address but that's all a bit beyond me and I'm not sure if my router is exactly capable of that.

Anyways I was thinking of possibly making a split cat5 cable to go to the cell and the wireless router from the modem. I saw some online that I could order an already made splitter too. Do any of you think I'll run into any problems with this setup? I figure that way the microcell can bypass my network and I wont have to mess around with changing it all back to a dynamic ip which I'd rather not do but will if I have to. Anyone got any advise or know if this setup should work?

Guess I'll just keep my fingers crossed that it will work to run a straight connection to the microcell so it wont be on my network and I can keep my static network.



Just an update if anyone has this problem, the switch didnt work. I enabled DHCP and it worked.
