    Need some Networking help

Instead of spending hours on the web trying to figure out what my issue is , I figured I'd give the great minds of calguns a try..

Having some issues with communicating to devices on my network remotely..

    Current setup is as follows,

Arris Cable modem/router model DG860A with 4 lan ports 192.168.0.1
    DHCP enabled
    port1 phone
    port2 CCTV dvr
port3 Sprint mobile phone signal booster
    Port4 Netgear pro safe FVS318G

Netgear Firewall/ router was 192.168.1.1 I just changed it to 192.168.0.3
DHCP enabled.. different range of assigning IPs then the modem..

    8 port with multiple computers/DVRs/NVrs / Fax/ Phone/ set up on it.

The problem I am or have been having is I cannot communicate with my CCTV dvr systems .. I had the dvr on the Modem set as the DMZ and that was the only way I was able to communicate with it.. I set up the virtual server settings on the arris to no avail.. I currently have the DMZ set to the Netgear router IP address and port forwarding rules for the devices I want to connect to set up .. Still no luck..

I'm not really sure where the problem is, on my client list for the modem it only shows the netgear router and one of the phone devices.. the DVR on that modem is Static and outside it's DHCP range.

The netgear has a DVR attached to it and it is static and set outside both the netgear and modem's DHCP range..

Anyone have any idea where to start? When I try to add the virtual server on the modem it doesn't take b/c it doesn't see that device in it's client list.. a little confused about that too..

Have you tried just using one of the routers as a DHCP server? Running two on the same network even with different scopes can cause problems. Is there an option for NAT hairpinning or an option to allow different systems behind NAT to communicate with each other?

Per another member I'm going to try switching the cable modem into bridge mode and then allow the router to handle all of the routing and port forwarding.. Should be a solid solution.. I wasn't sure about the whole bridge mode thing but as long as the modem will allow me to do it , it should be the fix..
