LinkedIn. Join a bunch of IT related groups and accept any and all contact requests. I get really good leads about once a month.

do not post your resume on those sites. I have regretted every minute of it. You will get lots of emails and calls from recruiters from all over the world who know nothing about you or your skills.

they just use search terms to find you and there are companies who instantly grab your resume and pull it into their systems for later use.

Best way is to look for jobs you want and apply. Don't expect companies to find you but expect recruiters from all over the world who don't care about you to contact you about jobs thousands of miles away.

I got a job by responding to recruiter's posts on dice once; but yeah... if you post your info you might get spammed.

Create a profile on LinkedIn, believe me, it works. Got my current position this way and get calls from great companies every day.

Linked in seems good. If there are any hacker spaces nearby, lurk there and ask around.

Use Linked In for permanent jobs and Monster for contract jobs, but prepare to 'spam' a lot of contract recruiters. A six month contract in IT is really a long-term job interview and will get you working faster than holding out for permanent.

I had a long-term career as a contract IT Project Manager, and never lacked for 1-2 year contracts. Which is longer than some 'permanent' jobs last.

Get some help on your resume from anyone you know who is a working IT manager. It'll make a huge difference.

funny thing is, unless it's gov't, there is no such thing as a long-term full time position ... you can get let go anytime and for no reason (at will). Been through it ... was a great worker, saved them lots of money and they still let me go

I've began liking contract positions since the pay is more, I get to meet more people and experience lots of different environments and technologies.

Contact SMCI, Cognizant, Unisys, Modis, etc
