HDMI switch

I have just one HDMI cable run from my TV to the cabinet in the wall. I am looking at an HDMI switch that I can connect to my TV and Xbox, Dish set topbox and maybe Roku.

Does anyone have experience with HDMI switches so I can avoid another cable run?

I use this switch from Monoprice to feed 4 HDMI sources (FiOS, Apple TV, Xbox, and NVR) to a TV, and digital audio from those sources to the home theater surround system.

It's pricey, but works perfectly.

What about spending a bit more and getting a surround sound receiver and using that for the switching.

I think it would be more cost effective for the OP to run more cables up the wall than to buy a BUNCH of stuff that isn't needed or desired, but I could be wrong...

I used an HDMI switch a couple of years ago for the same reason. It worked well, but eventually crapped out after a year of use. I've since purchased a better TV, but I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one. Hopefully yours will last longer than mine.

It usually goes on sale for around $7. It's a cheapy Chinese switch, but it works great. I've had it for around 3 years and it's still going strong.
