arcgis and Garmin Nuvi GPS

Hi everyone,
I don't have any experience with ArcGis, but I was told a while back that it's possible to get maps prepared in the ArcGis software and convert them into a format that can work in a Garmin GPS. I haven't done anything like this before and wanted to know if someone knows if this is possible and can offer some details on how to do this. I have a Garmin Nuvi 205 GPS which as a microSD slot that can take up to a 4Gb SD card.
How do you convert a ArcGis map file into the Garmin format?
When you copy the file onto a SD card and plug the card into the Garmin GPS, how do you get the GPS to load and recognize the file map?
Does anyone happen to have Garmin map files for the 'stans like Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan? I don't need Afghanistan since I'm not allowed to go there.

Does this help? I also use ArcGIS software and I recommend the ESRI forums or GIS.stackexchange if you want to get any real answers. Nothing is intuitive in ArcGIS/ArcMap

thanks, that helps out a lot. I'm still getting used to ArcGis. I get the feeling it was written to do a lot more than just generating maps.
