    Windows Attachment Manager?

All of a sudden, I can't download anything; not even just a picture- I get a Failed - Blocked error message, which links to a Google page (I'm using Chrome) that says the Windows Attachment Manager is at fault. There is another hyperlink from there to a Microsoft page about attachment Manager issues, but nothing there on how to deal with it if you're using Vista. I contacted MS Chat, but they want $99 to resolve the issue

    Can anyone help with this?

Install Firefox and see if this is just a Chrome issue. I'll assume you paused your antivirus and spyware?

Paused the spyware? No. I put the domains into the spyware's safe list though.

I tried with IE and downloads were blocked there too. I don't have Firefox...probably won't be able to download directly; I'll have to download to my pad and transfer via cable.

Failure to be able to download anything usually means a virus.
See if it works properly if you open in safe mode w/ networking. The update antivirus and malwarebytes and scan the hell out of it.

I don't understand. Is he being forced out for being an ammo-grabbing fascist or for being a failure as an ammo-grabbing fascist?

Hmmm...Avast, Malwarebytes and Spybot aren't seeing anything.

Did the possible virus possibly corrupt the Windows Attachment Manager so it won't allow downloads? What if I re-installed Vista?

Can you restore the system to a prior restore point?

This won't affect any work you've done, just restore settings to an earlier time.

Learn how to back up and restore apps, settings, files, photos, and Microsoft Edge favorites and preferences on your Windows PC using Windows Backup.

Duh. Sorry you did say you can't download anything. For whatever reason I was thinking you couldn't open attachments in a browser email. I am dense today.

Run your malware sweeps in safemode.

(The safest way to not get the whole system infected is to browse as a non-administrator.)

Looking up stupid things, or searching for drivers not on the MFR's website is a sure fire way to get hosed.

Create a new admin windows account, login as that account and see if it is just your profile.
Hell, you could do a scan after booting in safemode during your first login of that account this way too.

If you started to download google chrome and did not finish it that could be the problem
GC even though it's removed from your program will still be embedded in the system
I had the same problem. My IT guy solved it
Google removing chrome from Microsoft systems.

its actually a trojan in the reg causing the problem
run this from Norton http://www.symantec.com/security_res...614-99&tabid=3 ive seen this on about 10 other computers before i read up on it.

after you run the tool, make sure you change your security settings in internet options. internet option-->security--> internet-->reset all default

change your internet options and reset the security to default you can download stuff until you restart.

I had a suspicion this was a trojan/virus/malware. Might have to use another computer to get that program on the infected computer in the first place.

as long as you reset your internet options--> security tab, you should be able to download it
