I've been using an Add-On with Firefox called NoSquint. It helps with viewing web pages at night which have "blinding" white backgrounds.
Just right click and go to "No Squint site settings" then change the colors or size.
On this site I use black background and grey text. It helps a lot so I thought I'd share. It may work with other web browsers, some sites it affects images.
If you know of anything better, please share.
