    Drop Cams

I'm considering adding a drop camera to my "arsenal" of home protection strategies. Any comments or suggestions? Thanks.

I like mine well enough. The Android AP works well on my phone.
Simple to set up and work well.
Easy interface. Motion and sound detection.

Be sure you have decent upload capacity as they use a lot.

    As always, YMMV

Thanks for the input. Any comments on the amount of WiFi these cameras use, including when they are turned off from the ap?

          the PRO is $200?

not bad for a 2way audio, nightvision and better resolution.

Like guns requiring ammo to operate, the $200 is only part of the cost. I understand that the ability to save clips of footage will require $100-$300 per year. Non-the-less, I am still in the dark as to how much WiFi these cams consume, and also understand they will require a certain amount of WiFi when you're home and the camera is "off". Any help this this?

I bought a drop cam about 3 weeks ago. I didn't get the pro one for $200. But I think it's a nice camera. Got it before heading to So Cal for a couple days and nice to drop in and check on the house and the night vision works pretty well on it. The App makes it really nice where you can change the setting on the fly and you can choose if you want notifications if there is movement. With signing in on the computer you can change the movement box it will watch. That way if there movement inside the box you get either a text and/or email.
I have a fairly good upload speed so I'm not seeing an issue with a band with problem on my end.
For a camera to use to check on the house when you're out, I recomment it. I don't like paying the additional $100+ for the recording for it saving the last 7 days. So I'm thinking about upgrading to another system with a hard drive to save everything.

Thanks all, these comments are of help. We use DSL which does not provide the best upload speed. Will these devices use so much of our WiFi that it compromises our upload capabilities when were're home and the device is "off" from the ap (but still using WiFi)? I understand that it can be disconnected from WiFi, but going through that drill is more than I want to do every time I leave then re enter our home.
